Usage of Video Ingester
When you start the Video Ingester, the main window opens. You have an indicator if you are connected to the internet at the bottom of the application screen (if you see Connected written in green, you have an internet connection).
Working modes
If the Video Ingester works in combination with the Video Cutter - automatic mode
, the Ingester handles the video uploads automatically, with no need of user input. You can however upload video files manually - manual mode
.
Automatic mode
The Video Cutter is cuting videos and storing them in one of the defined watch folders of the Video Ingester. The Iingester automatically takes the video files, uploads them to the S3 storage and triggers the process of encoding. No user intervention is needed for this process.
Manual mode
If you add a video file manually, a new job appears in the job grid with status pending.
You can manually add a video file by copying it to the watch folder or drag and drop it to the job grid in the Video Ingester.
In order to start the upload of pending job, you have to select it in the grid and click the button Contest data.
An input form appears where you input the contest code and the camera angle name.
If you double click the label on the Contest Data input form, the file name is copied to the clipboard.
Keep original checkbox - if the checkbox is checked, the original video file will also be stored on the S3 storage.
After you insert the Contest code
and select the Camera name
, click the Save button. The status of the selected job will be changed to new and the upload will start.
Monitoring the upload speed
The application provides an option to monitor the upload speed of file transfers. Simply click the Show upload speed for dropdown menu and select the appropriate network adapter. Once selected, the application will display the average upload speed in megabits per second. If you add a new network adapter while the application is running, simply press the R
button on the main application screen to refresh the list.
